040 - 2020-01-21_20-15 (GIFs created or reupped July-January 2020): visible light redshifting/philosophy question is posed to Lui

Lui's cousin Rob thinks about science and becomes confused with the basic principles which seem to not add up. He starts to feel like since the concepts are incomplete, he's doing mental acrobatics.

The question posed to Lui refers to the curious fact that objects absorb all the colors of light EXCEPT for the color they appear to be, meaning that the color the object actually is is reflected. This seems counter-intuitive because it begs the question, then what color is the object actually? It would mean that the object isn't actually a specific color or even any color at all! The mystery lies in where color "comes from"; is it from the object itself or the photons? Do photons have color?

Lui recalls the curious nature of light redshifting as it moves away from the viewer. This means that light itself does have a color and it is affected by how far away it is. How is light able to have such mysterious and dynamic abilities? If it is a photon so far away, how are able to see them in the first place? So many questions fill their minds.

Lui concludes with accepting the mysteriousness of the universe including visible light.
